With the Referendum date now set for June 15, 2019, Bougainvilleans are now focused on preparations for the crucial vote.
Bougainvilleans residing in Brisbane, Australia also have a fair idea of the referendum call.
This follows awareness conducted by a team led by Bougainville Women’s Federation President, Rose Pihei during the 11th anniversary celebration in Brisbane.
The awareness generated positive feedbacks from participants.
Bougainvilleans joined by other Papua New Guineans and friends from Australia and overseas, marked that 11th Autonomous Bougainville Government Day, beginning with a Holy Eucharistic celebration of thanksgiving.
The Catholic Priest were amused of Bougainville’s contrinution of Christianity in the Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.
It was a fun-filled day of entertainment, to mark this important event of Bougainville’s autonomy.
Meanwhile, Barbara Tanne was also present at the event in Brisbane who said she was proud seeing Bougainvilleans in other countries celebrating this special day of autonomy.
“I am so proud, as long as Bougainvilleans outside of Bougainville, have a fair idea about referendum and where is Bougainville now,” she said.
