The 2015 Port Moresby Women’s Handicap Snooker Challenge cued-off last night at four respective venues in the Nation’s Capital.
32 Women have registered to compete in this year’s challenge, a number that has exceeded predictions.
This years’ tournament sees a slight change in the playing format. Competitors with the same handicap will compete against each other in the pool matches.
Port Moresby Billiards and Snooker Association, John Chan, said that this will allow players to compete on an even playing field.
Ninth–time defending Women’s Snooker Title champion, Geua John, cued-off last night with a handicap of five. While 2014 Women’s Players of the Year, Helen Samuel cued-off with a handicap of 15.
The competitors have been placed in eight pools and will play the best of three frames in their pool matches. The top 16 players will advance into the finals showdown on Saturday.
Laguna Hotel will see through the top 4 in the semi-final and the grand final.
The handicap challenge is being played at four respective venues of Laguna Hotel, Lamana’s Q-Club, Dragons Den and Aviat Club.
