By Mickey Kavera – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Papua New Guinea will be sending a delegation to the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts to be held in Hagatna, Guam from the May 22 to June 4, 2016.

The PNG Organising Committee is convening the launching, on 13th of this month at the Dynasty Restaurant in Port Moresby, to announce their preparations and plans.

Since 1972, delegations from 27 island nations around the Pacific have come to exchange their cultures at each festival of Pacific arts.

The PNG delegation will total up to 170, which will comprise artists, performers, musicians among others.

Acting Executive Director for National Cultural Commission, Dr. Jacob Simet, says it is important for PNG to participate in this regional event.

He says the organising committee will be looking at raising a total of K2.3 million to participate in the festival.

Although, the NCC has not received any fund in the budget. Dr. Simet is optimistic the government will assist.
