Trade andInvestment betweePNG and Fiji promises to reach a new level.
That’sthe early indication fromthe revivePNG/Fiji Council Meeting in Port Moresby.
Trade andIndustry Minister Richard Maru’saPNG hasthe resources and Fiji can be one ofthe investors.
The Minister gave an open invitation tothe visiting one hundred and twenty strong Fiji delegations duringthe opening ofthe Fiji-PNG Trade andInvestment Seminar in Port Moresby on Wednesday.
The key here is investment; bringing in investment tothe country to build a skilled workforce, in turn adding tothe creation of two million jobs.
Referring to fisheries, he says we lose two billion kina every year when we send our tuna exports overseas instead of processingthem here in PNG Inland fisheries or aquaculture has not been profitable ether. Minister Maru thinks it’s time for a change andthe issuing of licenses may need revisitg.
Current figures show that investment from Fijian companies in PNG is at twenty-six million kina. Annually our countries trade is worth about six billion kina.
