The UPNG School of Medicine and Health Sciences saw its pioneer Masters Student in Pharmacy graduate today.
Linda Paita wasthe first and only student sincethe program began two years ago.
Ms Paita championedthe pharmacy program ofthe School of medicine and Health Science by beingthe first to graduate with a Master’s degree in this program.
Almost 20 years of continuous schooling paid off today when she was conferredthe Masters in Pharmacy in front of a packed crowd atthe Waigani campus today.
Ms. Paita didn’trsquo;t have much to say accept to thank her mentor in school and her hard working parents, who have supported her from day 1.
She isthe fourth child to Warea and Nora Paita from Ialibu inthe Southern Highlands Province and isthe only female from her tribe of Siwi Utame to be graduating at this level.
Herthesis was done on HIV stigma and she says fromthe 400 lLeaderssampled inthe eastern part of Southern Highlands, lLeadersstill discriminated people living with AIDS
The Masters in Pharmacy is a new program atthe university and she says despite facing hiccups in her studies she managed to complete her two year program on time.
