In this edition of Olsem Wanem, we feature the Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF), a legal entity that manages community development benefits for Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML).
We feature the Community Mine Continuation Agreement corridor of Western Province where we travelled with the OTDF team and captured some of the many works they are doing in mine impact communities.
With their work surrounding the National Government’s development goals, OTDF has engaged in a number of development projects in Western Province with the aim of economical sustainability and self-reliance for communities.
We also feature the opening of the Madire Fly Jetty, a major infrastructure development project in the South Fly Region. The Madire Jetty is one of 5 major jetty projects in the Middle and South Fly Region, which is funded under Ok Tedi’s Tax Credit Scheme.
With Ok Tedi operations given an extension to 2025, OTDF is also preparing locals for life after mining operations with the introduction of an Eagle Wood project, Rubber and Rice Farming.
