National Statistical Office Launches New Set of Data

The National Statistical Office has launched another new set of data from the 2011 National Population and Housing Census.

The Community Profile System or CPS is a system that generates statistical table of socioeconomic information in less populated areas.

The CPS product contains three community profile indicators, including Population Statistics, Houses Economic Activity and Education Information.

National Population Census is a snap shot of any country‘s population and socio – economic activities within a specific timing. Using the Community Profile System, the entire PNG is stored in one central system.

National Statistical Office says planners can use the CPS when doing bottom up planning at Local Level Government.

It can be used by decision – makers to allocate resources and funding in the respective Districts and Wards.

With the support from the National Planning Department and United National Population Fund, NSO was able to release the 2011 National Population and Housing Census.

Moving forward, NSO will soon produce and release the National and Provincial Analytical reports and the Table Retrieval System relating to Population.
