More Help Needed for Young Chimbu Boy with deadly TB Meningitis

A young boy in a remote village is facing death but he may live due to a timely assistance from the local MP.

Bu John, 17, was admitted to Chuave Rural Hospital in 2015 and diagnosed with TB Meningitis and Hydrocephalus by Dr. Kristoffer Ninkama.

The condition caused his brain to swell out of proportion because of increased fluid build-up in his head.

He was later referred to Kundiawa General Hospital.Prior to that Bu John was kept in his village for one year to be treated by the local traditional healer.

He is now on TB ttreatment. Bu needs urgent head surgery but if this critical medical operation is not performed, he could die in a matter of weeks.

This life saving operation can only be performed in Port Moresby but his parents who ordinary village farmers cannot afford the airline ticket.

On Saturday, Mr Mori walked into the Chuave District hospital ward and presented K5000 to Bu’s parents.

He told the parents, Mary and John of Girivu village in Chuave that he was equally worried and wanted their young son to live. The parents were emotional when they received the money from Mr Mori.
