A full government team was led by People’s National Congress Party Leader and Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill and his candidate, Paru Aihi.
They brought Waigani closer to Lealea village located in Portion 152 of the PNG LNG Plant site. The village setting is no different to any other village in the country and the people here still want access to fresh water, which is one of the constant challenges.
Mr O’Neill felt the people’s hardships when he drove there personally to support his candidate, Paru Aihi. He was especially disappointed at the bad road conditions as K17 million was allocated to seal the Papa – Lealea road in 2011 when he was the then Minister for Treasury.
Mr O’Neill assured the people that he will take full control of the issue to find out how the funds were used. He also announced the Waigani Water Project that will supply fresh water into the village.
He said his government was serious about ridding corruption and through good leaders, they hope to do just that. He, like other PNC Members, would like to retain Mr Aihi for the qualities and the experiences he brings.
Mr Aihi said Lealea village is one of the villages located at Portion 152 PNG LNG Plant Site, he told the people that all mistakes of the first LNG Plant will not be repeated.
The Waigani water project is expected to start this year and continue into 2015.
