Lae’s Fifth Killing: Man’s Body Found

By Bethanie Harriman – EM TV, Lae

There has been another killing in Lae. The body of a man was found at the backroad area outside the city’s boundaries past the Malahang, in the early hours of this morning.

The body was found along the backroad area with multiple cuts. The victim’s attackers distracted him by asking for a gas lighter and cut him on the back of the head before chopping his legs and hands off.

The dead man is wanted by police for a series of hold-ups, thefts and assaults.

Police at the scene managed to contain what could have been a spill-over of violence at the back road area. It is understood the man is a key suspect linked to at least one ethnic clash in the area.

Community leaders also gathered people and talked to them, but this isn’t the first time this happened in the area. In this area, there are reports of at least one killing per month.
