Students studying through the Flexible Open Distance Education are also covered by the government’s Tuition Fee Free Policy.
This was the statement from the National Education Minister, Nick Kuman, in parliament today. Mr Kuman was responding to questions raised by Western Province Governor, Ati Wobiro, during question time.
The minister for education told parliament that the TFF is a government policy that also accommodated for students studying through Flexible Open Distance Education, across the 21 centres around the country.
This year the national government had allocated K13 million for the FODE students.
The cost for one student is K100 per subject.
TFF Policy also caters for inclusive education like those provided by the Catholic Church’s Callan Services, in 25 centres around the country.
“I’m proud to announce here that we have reached an agreement that they will extend their service for another five years,” said Kuman about Callan Services.
As partners in development, the national education minister called on agency schools to comply by the TFF policy and stop charging project fees.
