Margaret Joseph is PNG U20 Women’s central defender, and hails from the Gulf Province. A region noted primarily for being a rugby league stronghold, she says football has always had a special place in her heart.
Being one of the taller members of the squad, it was almost a natural choice for her to be in defence. The defender however, has been clear in her passion for the sport; in the match against Japan, succumbing to injury while trying to prevent a Japanese goal.
Continuing against the US, in another dismal performance by the national team, Joseph says, it was disheartening.
Her plans for the future, however, have included being a better representative for her country when asked if she would take the chance to make the country proud, Margaret said it would be difficult but they are willing to try.
