Electoral Commissioner Andrew Trawen has extendedthe time of nomination ofthPNG LLG to Friday at 4pm.

 

This is due tothe overwhelming requests from Election Managers andReturning Officers including candidates throughoutthe country.

Nominations for LLG elections opened six days ago on June 6th. LLG elections have been scheduled for early July.

 

Commissioner Trawen saidthe request for extension for nomination fromthe 7days was due tothe short time frame and public holiday.

 

 He said banks were closed and candidates could not paytheir nomination fees to produce toReturning Officers when nominating.

 

 

The ther reasons arethe geographical and remoteness of various Local –level Governments.

 

Trawen said AssistantReturning Officers can now accept late nominations in all 20 provinces until Friday 14 close of business.

  

All ther dates and schedules for LLG Elections will remain unchanged unless advised.
