Bomana Road Upgrade Soon to Start

By Staycey Yalo – EMTV News, Port Moresby

The road leading into Bomana Correctional Service will be upgraded in the coming weeks. This follows an urgent plea last week by the community around the Bomana area and the CIS community on the deteriorating road condition that was worsening by the recent heavy rains.

The road leading to Bomana has been lacking active maintenance for many years. Yesterday, NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, and Port Moresby Northeast member & Minister for Housing & Urbanization, John Kaupa, officiated the 9km road upgrade to Bomana.

The contract was awarded to Phoenix through the NDCD’s Road Development Program. Work will begin in the next two months after Phoenix finishes road works at ATS.

Senior CIS Officer, Mone Apo, was very impressed with the quick response from NCD governor and the Northeast MP who had come to the community’s aid after their concerns was raised through EMTV last week, as well.
