The Games Organising Committee is pleased with the airport arrival procedure for the 2015 Pacific Games after running a trial during the recent Oceania Football Confederation qualifying series, held in PNG.
The trial provided an opportunity for GOC to test the procedures and regulations, as well as identify areas in need of improvement.
GOC has partnered with customs, immigration, Air Niugini, quarantine and the National Airport Corporation to form a team to assist the sports athletes and officials during the Games.
GOC CEO Peter Stewart said the partnership is to ensure that sporting teams and officials travelling into the country are assisted at the airport without difficulties and delays.
The sports teams and officials travelling in for the Games will bring sporting equipment, medicines, medals, trophies and accessories; therefore, the airport team plays a critical role in swift and effective clearance for the athletes at the airport.
Part of the partnership allows for prior arrangements to be made before teams arrive at the airport.
