By Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV, Tari

A ceremony was held to swear in members of the Angore Special Purpose Authority in Tari recently. The authority’s establishment is significant to enabling the delivery of basic services like roads, schools and health services.

Members of the authority were sworn in, including the election of Chairman, Peter Haluma Wakima, and Deputy Chairman, Tobias Hondomo, both elected, un-opposed.

The authority will now prepare to receive infrastructure development grants for the development of services in the area. The challenge now is for the authority to manage its administration efficiently so people can benefit from IDG’s and levies received from the LNG Gas Project, as per in the UBSA and LBSA.

Secretary of the Department of Inter Government Relations, Munare Uyassi, and senior officers, were present to conduct elections and swearing of members.

The authority involves officers from the department of planning, treasury, finance and local provincial government.

Over five special purpose authorities have been formed with more to be approved by the PNG Department of Provincial Affairs, including Juha in the Hela province as well.
