PNG Womenrsquo;s cricket team, Pacific MMI Lewas had a training session underthe watchful eyes of cricket greats, Richie Richardson and Kemar Roach.
The former WestIndies Captain and current fast bowler are inthe country to promotethe, “Don’t Drink and Drive” Legends bash this weekend.
Richie Richardson, former WestIndian Captain starred for his country’s cricket team from 1983 to 1996.
Along with current fast bowlers Kemar Roach,the pair are here on a 5 day visit as part ofthe Pacific MMI/MVIL “Don’t drink & drive” T20 Legends Beush.
The duo was on hand to observethPNG Womenrsquo;s cricket team in a training session atthe Amini Park.
Pacific MMI Lewas will leave home shores on Friday for an Australian tour and have been hard at training since.
The 14 member Lewas team will be led bPNG’s top female cricketer, Norma Ovasuru.
Ovasuru has played in at Australian state tournament before and know what to expect on this tour down under.
The Lewas team will play several matches in Sydney against a New South Wales Team, ACT and South Australian Team.
The team willthen travel to Beisbane to take on an Under 18 Australian side.
The presence of both international cricketers is timely asthe Lewas and Barramundis prepare forInternational tours.
The women’s team has a number of young and fresh talents coming through and is coached by former Lewas captain Kune Amini.
