The University of Papua New Guineastudent body will stage a peaceful protest to petitionthe government overthe medical faculty incident.
Police have been informed aboutthe planned protest and will provide security.
The government’stepped in to resolvethe matter butthe students’saythey will still protest. They gthered atthe main campus in Waigani on Wednesday to mobilize support for the cause.
It will be a peaceful protest march underthe watchful eyes ofthe police to present to governmenttheir petition.
Oncethese demands are metthey will return to classes.
The Prime Minister in Parliament orderedthe police mobile squad to be present atthe campus and urged students’to return to classes.
Also Minister for Defence Dr. Fabian Pok has directed an investigation intothe incident. Two arrests have so far been made.
The National Doctors Association andthPNG Nurses Association are in support ofthe protest.
They will present a separate petition tothe Papua New GuineaDefence Force Hierarchy.
