Madang FC Aims High for a Hopeful Future

by Jeremy Mogi – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

NSL Midfielder, Vanya Malagian, believes that his side Madang FC, could one day be a powerhouse in PNG football, with hopes they will one day make it big on the international scene as well.

The 25 year old, also feels, that Madang has enough young talent for the future of the club to be bright.

Meet twenty five year old, Vanya Malagian, the left sided midfielder has been an integral part of the success of Madang Football Clubs, phenomenal ride over the past two seasons of the Telikom National Soccer League.

Originally from Milne Bay province, the left footer considers himself a full blooded Madang town kid Playing amongst his childhood team-mates, Malagian is wary of the talent that Madang can produce in the future.

Hekari remains an enigma for Madang FC.

Over the past three years, only three clubs, have ever beaten the 9 time NSL champions, and one of them, is Madang FC.

In May 2015, Madang suffered their heaviest defeat, an 8-1 thrashing at the hands of Hekari, a humiliating loss that many saw as the end of Madang’s season.  But it was only three weeks later, that the tables would turn, Madang fighting back from a 1 all half time score, to take a narrow lead, and then further extend it in the dying stages to beat hekari on home soil, in a memorable semi-final victory.

The future looks bright for Madang FC, currently the team failed to qualify for the second stage of the NSL this season, but the belief is that with the talent they possess currently, and the youth base they contain, it is only a matter of time, before the regional stage beckons.
