After suffering several losses at the Wellington Sevens, the SP Export Pukpuks are now shifting their focus to preparing for the HSBC Hong Kong 7s in March.
The team, regarded as one of the best sevens teams in recent years, has much more ahead of them despite their devastating results in Wellington.
While their performance has generated comments on the code being ‘poorly sanctioned’, the team have a busy schedule ahead, with the Hong Kong 7s as their second and most important gig.
The Hong Kong Sevens will be a lead in to PNG’s qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
While chances of qualifying for the cup in Hong Kong remain out their reach, their primary focus is on gaining as much international exposure and experience while playing in such a high level of competition.
At present, the team remains under the coaching expertise of Billy Rapilla.
