Rabe Village’s Kickboxing Passion, Milne Bay

Kickboxing is making strides in Rabe village outside Alotau in Milne Bay.

Milne Bay Kickboxing Team Coach Solomon Tiaman said the code is attracting youth and having an impact on their lives.

Tiaman said many involved are those that have been causing violence and other problems in the community.

Tiaman said these young men are now drawn away from such bad practices and are attending boxing trainings.

Despite the deferral of the 7th PNG Games in Kimbe, the boxing squad for Team Milne Bay is  undergoing intense training in early preparation of the games.

Nearly 20 fighters are in training but only 6 will be taken to represent Milne Bay in their divisions.

“The code is picking up momentum and interest is growing among the youth in town and those in urban communities” said Flora Tiaman, Team Manager for Milne Bay Boxing Team.

With the progress of the code, officials want to use the code to help youth be discplined through sports.
