A directorate for police’s internal affairs from Momase region today commenced their 10-day training in Lae.
The group led by Former Internal Affairs director, Victor Isouve, aims to improve police investigation and policing skills.
Police Commissioner, Gari Baki, at the event’s opening said police brutality is an area that results from ill- disciplined behaviors by a few members of the police force.
Today, the policemen and women from within the Momase region were taken through a few drills of professional police conduct.
The 10- day workshop funded by the PNG- Australia Policing Partnership Program aims to enhance their police investigation skills and responsibilities as law enforcers.
Police Commissioner Gari Baki when officiating at the event today said professional police conduct is sometimes miscarried by a few offices due to ill-discipline.
He said this following a number of police brutality cases across the region that is caused by a few officers within the force.
The next two week’s training aims to improve these areas of policing in Momase’s RPNGC.
The training also involves other stakeholders who have been active participants in upholding transparent policing practices amongst police.
Former Internal Affairs Director for Police and now acting Assistant Commissioner for Crime, Victor Isouve, said the Police Internal Affairs continues to face funding challenges and limited manpower in such trainings.
