Kato Ottio proved to be a force to be reckoned with, after putting on an impressive performance at the Auckland Nines tournament. And with that performance, Ottio has been named in the Canberra Raiders squad to take on the Newcastle Newcastle Knights in a trial match this weekend.
Raiders Coach, Ricky Stuart, will use the trial match to select his starting 17 for the Round One clash against the Penrith Panthers. Blake Austin will be missing from the trial match, as he recovers from shoulder surgery.
Shaun Fensom has also been ruled out as a precaution, following a broken arm in the pre-season. Both players are expected to be fit and ready for their opening match of the season proper.
PNGRFL Chairman Sandis Tsaka congratulated Kato Ottio on making it into the Raiders squad.
“Kato has a great training ethic and I’m sure he will be successful in his quest with the Raiders,” he said.
