Police Commissioner David Manning said the three disciplinary forces will work together within the next few weeks to reduce the criminal activities in the Port Moresby.
He said their aim now is to increase the presence of the disciplinary forces in what are considered to be hot spot areas around the city.
“We are aware of the challenges faced in the city and we take note of the Prime’ Minister’s call during the parliament session yesterday regarding the Ethnic clash at Erima,” said Commissioner Manning.
He said they are embarking on a revised method of policing in the city and this will set a strategy that can be easily and equally applied to other centers around the country when it comes to law and order issues.
Commissioner Manning explains that they have done investigations and the clash at Erima is actually a drug deal gone wrong which instigated the clash.
The Assistant Police Commissioner, Anthony Wagambie Junior is also urging the communities to work together with them to identity the perpetrators involved in the clash so that the issue can be resolved and those responsible can be brought to justice.
