The mourning of the late Hela Governor, Anderson Agiru, will continue for the next 10 days in Port Moresby.
Chairman of the Organising Committee and Koroba-Kopiago MP, Philip Undialu, says programs have been extended to allow friends and family from overseas to be part of the mourning.
Meanwhile, Undialu brushed aside rumors of landowners stopping operations of the LNG Project.
“The LNG Project will not be used as a reason to stop the burial of the late Hela Governor,” he said.
“No one will stop the operation of the LNG Project in Hela.”
The team flew into Hela yesterday to brief the people, and also received a petition from landowner leaders. They say the petition is genuine, with landowners wanting projects initiated and envisioned by the late Hela Governor to continue.
“The issues in the petition are concerns people have, which most are projects the late Hela Governor started,” said Hela Provincial Administrator, William Bando.
Meanwhile, family members of the late Agiru say they want to see a smooth flow of events through till the body is laid to rest.
