Wewak’s Boram Airport in East Sepik Province reopened flights earlier yesterday after a temporary closure due to flooding.
The National Airports Corporation said that heavy rainfall had caused parts of the runway to flood, resulting in the cancellation of all flights to and from the airport.
Operations were suspended for safety reasons while teams assessed the damage.
With weather conditions improving, NAC confirmed that the runway is now safe for flights to resume.
NAC expressed gratitude to the travelling public and airline operators for their patience, emphasizing that safety remains their top priority.
