Kutubu LLG Councilors and President Sworn In

Elected Ward Councilors and President ofthe Kutubu Local Level Government in Southern Highlands were sworn in on Tuesday atthe Pimaga Council Chambers, Pimaga sub-district station.

 

The councilors were led bytheir President-elect John Kila and Magistrate Vincent Eralia. They were welcomed bythe local Pimaga community, and traditional dancers.

Sub-district Administrator and AssistantReturning Officer,  Kekeno Fura called onthe Councilors and President to show commitment and responsibility while servingthe people.

 

Hundreds in Pimaga turned up to withness this special occasion. Some travelled as far as Nipa to withnessthe occasion and familiarize with local lLeaders

 

Kutubu district boasts 18 ward councils. All ofthem were represented by men, only one woman’stood outoas a representative for women inthe LLG.

 

President-elect Mr Kila was first to be sworn in bythe District Magistrate.

 

This was followed bythe ward councilors.

 

 

He said for the past 20 years,there has been little change inthe districts’ developmentodespitethe district being dead set inthe middle ofthe LNG gas project.

 

The first thing to discuss withthe Councilors is maintaining law and order, followed by tourism, andthe involvement of churches in community development.

 

Mr Kila said he has trust inthe provincial governmentoand will be able to effectively carrythese plans out.
