The Bank of Papua New Guinea is currently hosting a five day Financial Inclusion Expo in Kokopo, East New Britain province.
With the theme, “Save Now To Make Your Dreams Come True”, the expo is intended to create awareness on the new and existing financial products and delivery channels.
The five day event which began yesterday, sees commercial banks, micro banks, savings and loans societies, finance companies, NGO’s and other stake holders showcase their products and services including innovative financial service delivery channels such as electronic banking and mobile money products and financial literacy training. The aim is to emphasize on creating a savings culture for Papua New Guineans in a society overwhelmed by barriers to saving.
Andy Phillip from the Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion, is one of the trainers from the various financial institutions conducting free financial literacy training on money management, business development services as well as their respective products and services.
Youths and school-aged children were also invited to the event in’Order to develop a savings culture for young minds by opening new savings accounts for youths and school children.
