During the first day of the Parliament Session, a question without notice by the Governor for Western Highlands Province Wai Rapa was directed to the Minister for Health Dr Lino Tom.
Governor Rapa highlighted that the Mt Hagen Provincial Hospital has been operating for months without a board and that needs addressing.
Governor Rapa asked for clarifications from the Health Minister on the processes involved in the appointments of the board for Provincial Health Boards.
He said this is due to the fact that the Western Highland Provincial Health Authority has been without a board for months.
In response, Minister Tom said there are protocols in place and they will have to write to the department of health and his office will respond to this accordingly. Dr Tom added that this applies to all other Provincial Health Authorities and they must take note of and follow the right procedures and protocols that are in place
