Gabagaba village in the Central Province yesterday launched its 3-day Volleyball tournament that has teams coming from Hiri East, Rigo Coast and Rigo Central.
A total of 42 teams made their presence known today, in the opening matches, and in the next two days, the competition is expected to step up.

A total of 42 teams made their presence known today, in the opening matches, and in the next two days, the competition is expected to step up.
The volleyball competition was an initiative brought forward by the Gabagaba community and supported by Central Province Governor, Kila Haoda.
With a total cash prize of K10,000 up for grabs, the teams playing in Pools A, B, C will see a heated competition as all 42 teams vie for the super six.
The women’s division has a total of 14 teams while the men’s have a massive group, with 28 teams.
Tournament Director Joe Kila said, this is also an opportunity to encourage unity among the Motuan villages.
He added, volleyball is not a seasonal sport in Gabagaba but with the massive turn out and participation, the prospect of carrying out seasonal competitions looks promising.
The tournament is expected to conclude this Friday.
