During panel discussions at the first Speaker’s Investment Conference held at the Parliament House this week, provincial governors were encouraged to improve economic growth in their provinces.
East Sepik Governor, Allan Bird, says to achieve better results, we have to think strategically.
The governor says East Sepik has thousands of people with low levels of education and skills, who can’t be told to manufacture aircrafts or computers, but can do simple things like farming.
The governor is looking at smallholder villagers to produce the best products, to be sold to other countries.
Governor Bird encouraged local landowners to utilize their land in the village, and not to turn to government support all the time.
