Western Governor, Ati Wobiro was arrested today by the police for alleged misappropriation of K7 million.
Governor Wobiro was taken to the Boroko Police Station and detained for several hours and later released on K20, 000 bail.
Fraud officers at Boroko Police Station confirmed with EMTV that the governor was referred to Boroko Police Station this morning for the alleged misappropriation of public funds for Western Province.
His case is now before the Fraud investigation team in Port Moresby.
Meanwhile jailed Komo-Magarima MP, Francis Potape’s bail application case today was adjourned to tomorrow.
Potape was found guilty on one count of conspiracy to defraud the state and 2 counts of misappropriation and was sentenced to serve 2 and a half years in prison.
He will return to the court house tomorrow for the case.
Fraud police are now cracking the whip on members of parliament surrounding the use of public funds.
