Early childhood learning is compulsory in the development of a child at an early age.
This was according to the Save the children, a Non-Government Organization that concentrates on addressing the plight of Papua New Guinean children.
The Organization has taken on this challenge, to provide learning and care support for children between the ages of 1-5 years.
It has taken about 4 months for Save the Children officers, to negotiate the project with people from the communities, councillors, church leaders and LLG Presidents in the Kainantu District.
The project is trying to fill the gap between the time a child stays at home and when he/she starts attending elementary school at the age of six.
The signing was witnessed by the District Administrator for Kainantu, Education and Community Development representatives and Save the Children.
Early Childhood Education in PNG has been operating under private entities which are expensive for ordinary Papua New Guineans to afford.
A facilitators training will be undertaken to train volunteers including parents on how they will be looking after and teaching the small children.
The move taken by Save the Children also comes amidst the growing numbers of children that live and fend off the streets in urban towns all over the country.
The organizations policies in the MOA were also aligned with the government’s policy aimed at giving every child at least a chance to go to school and learn.
