TWO SUSPECTS OF KOIKIN ROBBERY IN EAST SEPIK ARRESTED

East Sepik Provincial Police boss has praised his officers for their swift action in arresting the suspects involved in a highway robbery near Koikin village.

Superintendent Christopher Tamari confirmed that a coordinated dawn raid on New Year’s Eve led to the successful capture of two suspects. He commended his men for their discipline, courage, and commitment to public safety, noting that their actions prevented further harm to the community.

“This operation demonstrates the dedication of our officers in ensuring the safety of the people of East Sepik. Their quick response and teamwork are commendable,” Tamari said.

The suspects are now in police custody and are expected to face charges related to the robbery. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the pair are linked to other criminal activities in the province.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on the outskirts of Wewak when a vehicle overturned while attempting to evade the criminals. The suspects allegedly targeted travelers along the highway, causing panic among motorists and nearby residents.

Local residents have expressed relief at the arrests, with many calling for continued vigilance along the Wewak highway, which has seen increase in criminal activities in the recent months.

Moreover, police have urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to authorities as efforts continue to maintain peace and order in the region.
