The new Chief Executive Officer of National St John Ambulance is Kai Tane after he was formally appointed through the council.
Mr. Tane took over the role from Dr. Arabella Koliwan who was acting as the Interim Chief Executive during the transition period.
Mr. Tane brings extensive senior leadership experience, together with a strong commitment to organisational governance, clinical excellence and community service.
The appointment was made following a comprehensive and rigorous selection process carried out by the National St John Council to ensure the continued strength, sustainability and strategic direction of the organisation.

He commenced in the role on November 17, 2025, ahead of this formal announcement.
Council Board Chair, Mr. Isikeli Taureka acknowledged Dr. Koliwan for providing steady and effective leadership that ensured continuity for the organisation.
Mr. Taureka is confident that with the experience of Mr. Tane, spending almost two decades as a Paramedic and senior Leader across the health sector will further advance National St John Ambulance’s mission to deliver high-quality emergency medical and community health services.
“We are confident that Kai Tane will lead National St John Ambulance with integrity, vision and a strong focus on service excellence. The Council looks forward to working closely with him as we continue to serve the communities across the country,” Taureka said.
