The Lae Metropolitan Commander, Chief Superintendent, Anthony Wagambie, has called for provincial authorities to seriously consider evicting illegal settlers.
Wagambie said illegal settlements are becoming a breeding ground for criminal elements.
The settlements are also growing as Lae develops and this will cause more problems.
Wagambie’s appeal came after settlers residing in one of the settlements set a blaze the Vocopoint police post a week ago.
