AUCKLAND FC FIRST TO ARRIVE FOR THR OFC CIRCUIT 2 IN PORT MORESBY

The Auckland Football Club arrived in Port Moresby yesterday for the 2nd circuit of the OFC Pro League games.

There will be eight teams competing in the second circuit of the OFC Pro League competition, which will be played at the National Football Stadium from January 31 to February 8, 2026.

The well-known football club in the pacific football league, Auckland Football Club, was the first team to arrive in Port Moresby ahead of the round 2 of the OFC Pro League.

Auckland FC defender, Michael den Heijer, spoke to the media and expressed their excitement for the round 2 games.

He said, the Auckland FC are expecting a tough encounter as alot of the players including himself have not been to Papua New Guinea, but they are also very excited for the games.

“We know it’s going to be very tough, the conditions are not easy for us, but we’re up for the challenge and we’re very excited for what will be a big crowd as well,” Heijer said.

The Auckland FC has made an immediate impact in football in the Australia men’s A- League in 2024, wining the Premier Plate in their first season as a professional club and hopes to reciprocate that success in the OFC Pro League.

They are also well known to many football fans in the pacific with their successes as the record haul of 13 OFC Men’s Champions League titles, as well as the men’s and women’s team qualifying for their respective world cup.

Defender Michael den Heijer, explained that regardless of their standing in the league, they know that it is going to be a massive challenge since every team in this competition are working very hard.

He said, “in our three games that we’ve played, we have a lot of difficult moments throughout those games, so we’re not taking anything for granted and we’re looking forward to this circuit in Papua New Guinea.”

Auckland FC hopes to deliver some really good results in this circuit, as well as giving something special for their fans back in Auckland to watch as they know they will be supporting them online and watching the games.

They are also anticipating to see the passion for football in Papua New Guinea and hope to see a big crowd on Saturday for their first match with PNG Hekari FC.
