800 Soldiers deployed for 2012 General Elections

More than eight hundred Defence Force soldiers will be deployed for the 2012 National General Election.

PNG Defence Force will be out there to ensure that voters exercise their democratic rights during this election. Soldiers were instructed to be neutral and abide by the code of ethic. Only those under Operation Natel should be seen and no one apart from that.

A majority of five hundred will be stationed in the seven Highlands provinces while the other will be in coastal regions.

The soldiers will be assisting the Royal PNG Constabulary in the security operations for the election.
