Tracy Morgan has just been released form Rehab and his publicist just confirmed that he is suing Wal Mart for the June 7th crash that left him critically injured.
Morgan’s publicist released the following statement yesterday afternoon, “Tracy has been released from the rehabilitation center and will continue his recovery efforts at home with an aggressive outpatient program. He asked me to pass along his sincerest gratitude to everyone who has helped him get to this point. He would also appreciate some privacy during this crucial point in his recovery. In regards to the reports of a lawsuit, I can confirm that Tracy, along with the other victims of this horrific accident, have filed suit.”
New York Post reports, the suit claims that Morgan had sustained severe painful bodily injuries, including but not limited to multiple fractures which required multiple surgeries, extensive medical treatment and will require significant physical rehabilitation.”
According to the law suit, Wal Mart’s Driver Kevin Roper had been driving for about 10 hours and had not slept for over 24 hours. The suit alleges Walmart should not have overworked their driver.
The suit also claims that Roper had driven 700 miles from his home to the Walmart distribution center before beginning his fatal drive. One person had died when Roper was going on 65 in his tractor-trailer in a 45 MPH zone and slammed into the SUV.
Walmart has told TMZ that they will be cooperating fully in the ongoing investigation. It will be time consuming but Walmart is committed to doing the right thing by everyone involved.
TMZ also reports that Morgan and three other plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages.
