TheInternational Credit Union Daywas marked yesterday bythe TeachersSavings and Loans Society.
Withthetheme “Credit Unions, Unite for Good – a Better Way”, it emphasizesthe benefits of corporation of Credit Unions worldwide.
The goal of celebratingthe day is to raise awareness on what Credit Unions do and to give membersthe chance to get more involved.
“The Dayis recognized to reflect uponthe Credit Union moverments history and to promote its achievement,” Paulus Laveil, Federation of Savings and Loans Societies Limited.
“Credit Union is unique becausethey are not for profit and not democratically controlled,they are member owned cooperative.”
It’s traditional thatthe day is marked with Credit Unions and Associations throughoutthe world holding Open House contests, pictures and parades.
TISA was no exception with each ofthe organization’s divisions competing against each ther for the title of Best Decorated Division. Staff of TISA puttheir efforts togther in an attempt to be rewarded.
Judging criteria included general tidiness, creativity, preparedness, innovation,theme related and execution.
The top prize went tothe National Members Service Division withtheir outstanding color coordination and overall presentation.
Runners up weretheInformation Technology Division, andthe Human Resources Division coming in at 2nd and 3rd places.
There was alsothe Best Dressed employee, Horo Tivore, office assistant inthe NMS and Admin Divisions.
With some 49,000 Credit Unions inthe world,the Daycelebratesthe economic democracy and equal ownership rights of each Credit Union member, regardless of how much money that member may have in savings.
IPNG, TISA has a customer base of 38,000 and growing.
