Sydney Wesley Remains PNGRFU National Coaching Director

By Lorraine Genia – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

National Coaching Director of the PNG Rugby Football Union, Sydney Wesley, has cleared the air on speculations in the print media on Tuesday, of him resuming his role as head coach of the PNG Palais.

Wesley said, he maintains his role with the PNGRFU as national coaching director, and part of his responsibility is overseeing all coaching programs.  “There’s been a report in one of the daily’s that I am the coach of the Palais, which is incorrect. My position right now with the PNGRFU is the director of coaching, and it is my job to oversee all the coaches.”

The PNGRFU is in the process of securing an expert women’s coach offshore.

Meanwhile, the Palais have had a good campaign over the past three months.

The Hong Kong 7’s held in March was a good venture for the team to test their strength not for both the 2015 Pacific Games, and the Oceania Championships in Auckland, later in the year, where they will have the opportunity to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
