Sungi hails Governor’s conference a success

Vice Minister for Inter Government Relations Joseph Sungi has hailed the Governor’s Conference a success.

The conference was held to build partnership between the three different levels of government.

Despite having many first time governors in the conference, their participation was well received.

The annual governor’s conference was not held for the past two years.

Vice Minister for Inter Government Relations Joseph Sungi is happy that the conference came at a right time this year.

Having served as an administrator in Sandaun Province for the last nine years, he says this conference was the most successful compared to past conferences.

Minister for Education Paru Aihi was invited to the conference to discuss education issues faced by each province.

Governor for Southern Highlands William Powi was concerned that there was a gross mismanagement of school funds by the principles and members of the school board in his province and wants this to be investigated.

He said he is doing preliminary investigations

There were 17 governors in attendance.

Governors for East Sepik, New Ireland, Oro, Western Highlands, and the new Hela province were either absent or sent apologies.
