Forthe first time,the Government throughthe 2014 Budget has set out in advancethe fiscal limits for the forward estimates years of 2015 – 2018.
Minister for Treasury Don Polye revealed this during a press conference in Port Moresby on Thursday, after releasingthe 2014 Budget Strategy Paper.
Minister Polye explained duringthe Press Conference of whythere is going to be a multi-year Budget.
“Why? Because we want to make certain of continuity and surety inthe projections that you will see how your budget and economy will be doing, so that business houses can anchortheir plans and business strategies andtheir corporate plans accordingly,” Polye’said.
Mr. Polye’saidthe overall purpose of releasingthe Budget Strategy Paper is to better informthe public aboutthe Government’s fiscal situation as well asthe economic environment in which Budget decisions must be made.
“I want to make it transparent as much as possible…and for all to knowthe governments focus and howthe government is strategizingthe budget intothe future,” said Polye.
The Treasurer saidthe Government will continue to drivethe expansion of a pro-growth and pro-development Budgetobut would responsibly do so withinthe necessary macroeconomic parameters.
