Police Under Fire Over SoceryIncident

Minister Duban came under fire yesterday following this headline in one ofthe dailies “A young mther alleged to have been a socerer  burnt to death”.

A clearly frustrated Governor Parkop questioned why police were not capable of preventing such horrific crimes.

 

Governor Parkop also raised concerns ofthe continuous re-appointment of Police Heads andthe phasing out of reservists. He was backed bythe Oro Governor, Garry Juffa.

 

Minister Duban says somethese powers are out of his jurisdiction and lies withthe constabulary. However,they will be reviewing those processes.

 

Minister Duban saidthey will be launching a Police modernization program in March this year. He saidthe program will highlight some of those questions forwarded to him to improverthe police force.
