A police woman is among the 25 Police officers undergoing firearms training at Kwikila Station, Central Province.
The training is expected to increase police officers’ knowledge on firearms, and to address the illegal use of firearms.
For the 25 participating officers it will be their first time to undergo training like this.
This is the 4th firearms training conducted in 2016 through the Bomana Police College.
It is a measure taken under the Police Commissioner’s directive to minimise loss of lives because of use of firearms, by police officers.
In the last 3 years, the police force has come under public criticism because of the number of deaths from allegedly unprovoked police shootings.
The training covers an overview of when to use a firearm and when not to.
The training will conclude on Friday.
