PNG U20 Women’s Team Announced

The U20 women’s football team has been selected. This follows after the disappointment of not being able to play the final qualifier for the Rio Olympics.

The team will now be preparing for the FIFA Women’s World Cup here in Papua New Guinea, and it’s the first time PNG will be competing at World Cup level.

Some players selected in the team include Belinda Giada, who put on an outstanding performance during the OFC U17 Women’s Champions.

The team comprised of Lace Kunei, Eunice Dambui, Olive Upaupa, Cynthia Stanis, Jacobeth Bani, Sheilla Gubag, Leah Noah, Gloria Balamus, Gloria Laeli, Yvonne Gabong, Joy Tsuga.

The team has ten months to prepare before the U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup. They will undergo six months of training at the National Sport Institute in Goroka.

The team will attend international friendly matches in the lead up to the World Cup.

Sixteen countries have qualified to take part in the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea from November 13 to December 3.
