Nagada Eviction Continues

It’s the second day of the eviction exercise and police had moved into the Nagada settlement to evict illegal settlers on ELCPNG land.

The three portions of land 69, 70 & 78 belong to the Evangelical Lutheran church of PNG and the church had issued numerous notices to settlers to vacate the land since 2017 after winning a prolonged legal battle.

Settlers who have been living in Nagada settlement for more than twenty years are not sure where to go after the eviction.

Most expressed concern over their children’s education as the academic year draws near for classes to resume.

Other settlers voluntarily took down their houses and moved out before the bulldozer reached their properties.
