Mainawa Primary School received a sum of K50,000 from the Alotau District recenlty.
Local MP Charles Abel, presented the funding this week.
School Headmistress, Willma Tereakina, said since its establishment, teachers houses remained as a concern to the operation of the school.
“Housing for teachers is paramount for an educational institution and with this funding we will be able to build two more houses for our staff,” said Tereakina.
Local MP Charles Abel, said the funding comes under the district education program to support all Local level Government.
Abel said direct funding is available but will be released as schools submit SLIP forms so the district knows what schools need.
MP Abel also presented K500 to the Mainawa community for Independence celebrations.
