Micah launches 2013 DSIP Projects

Member for Kavieng Open and State Enterprise Minister, Ben Micah, is targeting governance issues of implementing reforms in his electorates.

Yesterday Mr. Micah launched logistics worth over five hundred thousand kina for Tikana, Murat, Lavongai and Kavieng Urban LLG’s.

In his keynote address Mr Micah said, budgeting and planning of projects must have impacts at village levels.

The public service mechanism in Kavieng District has been hampered by logistical support failures over the past 20 years.

This has seen the deteriorating of Government infrastructure, rise in lawlessness and minimum service delivery in the 4 Local Level Governments.

However, past failures were buried yesterday as LLG presidents, ward councillors with Kavieng open member Ben Micah and the people made a stand to implement a bottom-up approach in delivering services.

Before launching the 2013 DSIP Projects, Mr Micah said, planning, budgeting and implementing key prioritize areas is vital.

He aims to make Kavieng District a model to other districts in PNG.

President of Tikana LLG and New Ireland Deputy Governor Ken Bart, expressed sentiments of lack of planning and budgeting in the past governance of the electorate but says, the approach taken now is the right start.

A total of 15 projects were launched yesterday, as leaders join hands to cut the ribbon.

Sectors addressed in the projects are Economic, Law and Justice, health, education and agriculture.

All funding was approved by the Kavieng Joint District Planning and Budgeting Priority Committee.
