Late Iffysoe Segeyaro’s Funeral

The late Iffysoe Segeyaro’s funeral service was held today at the Hohola Seventh Day Adventist church.

In attendance were his old colleagues WHO’served with him in the administration of rugby league, as well as on the field.

The former PNG Kumul five-eighth, and a father of Penrith Panther’s hooker James Segeyaro passed away after battling a long illness.

The casket was brought in by family members, including wife Margaret and now famous son James Segeyaro.

It was quite a sad day for the rugby league fraternity to have such a great man who fit in well with the development of school boys’ rugby league.

Ifisoe Segeyaro from Mohuveto village in Bena, Eastern Highlands Province, was one of the most skillful players in the PNG Kumuls in 1982 and 1983.

His son, Penrith Panthers hooker James Segeyaro, was by his side since day one, and paid his last tribute to the man who taught him everything about loving the game.

PNGRFL Rugby Football league noted his contribution in both the administration aspects, and his role in nurturing the development of the school boys program.

The memorable moments shared among his team mates both on and off field will not fade away easily, and his work on school boys can be seen in Hunters skipper Israel Eliab, Wartovo Puara Jnr and also James Segeyaro, his son.
